The reconstruction of Capitol Dr. in Shorewood has begun. The full and complete construction includes sidewalks, curbs and gutters, medians, and road surface, as well as lighting, storm sewer and traffic signal systems (between Lake Dr. and Estabrook Pkwy.). By mid-November, major construction should be completed. Streetscaping details, including new trees and other plantings, will be installed in 2011.
The Village, the State Department of Transportation (DOT) and other stakeholders have labored for more than two years to prepare a construction plan that can be completed in one construction season and that will allow continual use of the road and access to businesses and residential side streets during construction.
