HOLIDAY SHOPWALK

Saturday, December 2
The annual Holiday Shopwalk on Saturday, December 2 was a grand success! Sponsored by the Shorewood Business Improvement District, the day included complimentary trolley rides, strolling carolers, a visit from Santa, special offers from local merchants, and an ice-sculpting exhibition. Plus, shoppers were able to register to win a variety of gift certificates for products and services from select businesses.

Many thanks to the following sponsors for helping us stage our 2006 Holiday Shopwalk:
  • The Shorewood Men's Club and RE/MAX Lakeside for underwriting the cost of the trolley.
  • The Shorewood Players for setting the holiday mood and sharing their vocal talents as they caroled throughout the business district.
  • Gilda's Club Southeastern Wisconsin for use of their clubhouse where Santa entertained children and streetscape design options were on display from Schreiber/Anderson Associates.
  • Our generous business owners who donated gift certificates for products and services that were awarded in our free enter-to-win drawings.
  • The Shorewood DPW for creating the pedestals for the ice sculptures.

SHOWCASE SHOREWOOD

Saturday, September 16
From fine art and fine crafts created by local talent, to sidewalk sales and musical entertainment, the Shorewood business district showcased all the great reasons to Shop Shorewood at its first annual Showcase Shorewood event on Saturday, September16! Many thanks to everyone who made Showcase Shorewood such a great success!

It was indeed an exciting day in the village, and it could not have happened without the tremendous support of our local government and police department, community groups, corporate sponsors, all of our Shorewood businesses and especially the Shorewood School District, who generously let us use their high school grounds and facilities. Thanks to School District Superintendent Blane McCann and his engineering staff, and to Karen deHartog for helping to coordinate the activities at the high school.

Additional thanks go to:
The Shorewood Men's Club, celebrating 50 years of serving the Shorewood community. The Men's Club helped underwrite the cost of our advertising. North Shore Bank and Northshore Funeral Services for sponsoring the free trolley rides. North Shore Bank also offered a complimentary appearance of their mascot, Seymour Savings. Harry W. Schwartz Bookshops for sponsoring the caricature artist, Paul Merklein, in front of its store. The North Shore Fire Department for providing the impressive fire engines that were displayed at the high school. Shorewood Village trustees and staff. All of our fine art and fine craft artists who exhibited at the event. The talented musicians who performed on the high school grounds. The many volunteers who helped staff the event.

We are looking forward to staging Showcase Shorewood again next year!
