Holiday Shopwalk

Saturday, December 1 shopwalk

The Village of Shorewood, Wisconsin, kicks off the holiday season with its annual Holiday Shopwalk on Saturday, December 1. Sponsored by the Shorewood Business Improvement District, the day will include:

- Complimentary trolley rides from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Opportunities to register to win a variety of gift certificates donated by village businesses.
- Special offers and complimentary refreshments available at select merchants.
- Carolers from the Shorewood Players will entertain and inspire shoppers with their holiday spirit. For 78 years, the Shorewood Players have been providing quality, affordable live theatre to Milwaukee's Northshore. For more information on upcoming shows, visit shorewoodplayers.org.

Saturday, September 15, 10a.m.-5p.m. throughout the Shorewood business district Showcase Shorewood

Village of Shorewood residents and guests will get to experience what makes Shorewood such a great place to live, work and shop during the second annual “Showcase Shorewood” on Saturday, September 15. From fine art and fine crafts created by local talent, to sidewalk sales, musical entertainment and a business expo, the Shorewood business district will showcase all the great reasons to Shop Shorewood — Spend the Day!

Bring the whole family and enjoy a great day in the Village of Shorewood. Shop our stores and boutiques, have coffee or dinner in one of our cafes or award-winning restaurants. And stop by the high school grounds and discover one–of–a–kind artwork by local artists and talk to area business owners. Showcase Shorewood will be staged throughout the business district along Oakland Ave. and Capitol Dr. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The day's festivities will include:
  • Sidewalk sales staged by area retailers throughout the business district.
  • Well-known caricature artist Bill Begos will be drawing free caricature portraits in front of Harry W. Schwartz Bookshops, 4093 N. Oakland Ave. from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
  • A fine art and fine craft fair on the lawn of Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Dr., featuring fiber, jewelry, ceramics, leather, glass, painting, photography and mixed media by local and regional artists.
  • A business expo on the high school grounds featuring area businesses and community groups.
  • Live music performed by local talent on the high school grounds all day from 10-5.
  • Rummage To Benefit the Arts: A rummage sale in the high school's north gym to benefit the Shorewood High School art department and Art Club.
  • Face painting by the Art Club on the high school grounds.
  • See a fire engine truck from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the high school and learn about fire-fighting equipment and safety, compliments of the North Shore Fire Department.
  • A visit from crime-fighting dog McGruff, the mascot of the North Shore Police Department and Seymour Savings, the mascot of North Shore Bank
  • Free balloon twisting by Sparkles the Clown from 11:30-1:30 at Culver's. 1325 E. Capitol Dr.
  • Free face painting by Chocolata the Clown from 11:30-1:30 at Pick 'n Save, 4145 N. Oakland Ave.

Shoppers can see all the action by enjoying free trolley rides from 11-3 along Oakland Ave. and Capitol Dr., compliments of Northshore Funeral Services and the Shorewood Men's Club. Also, food and beverages will be for sale from the Shorewood Booster Club on the high school grounds to benefit student-athletes.

Showcase Shorewood is sponsored by the Shorewood Business Improvement District, in partnership with the Shorewood School District. SHOREWOOD FAMILY MOVIE UNDER THE STARS!

Saturday, August 4, 7 p.m., on the lawn of Shorewood High School

Shrek 2 FUN! FAMILY! FREE! Come on out for an outdoor movie spectacular in the Village of Shorewood on Saturday night, August 4. Everyone’s favorite, “SHREK 2,” will be shown at dusk on the lawn of Shorewood High School, Oakland Ave. and Capitol Dr. Come early! Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy special pre-movie entertainment starting at 7:00 p.m. including face painting, magic tricks and balloon twisting. Snacks and beverages - and, of course, popcorn - will be on sale!

The free outdoor family movie night is sponsored by Nehring’s Sendik’s on Oakland and Jean Pierre Cafe (and presented by the Shorewood Business Improvement District). Additional sponsorship is provided by Blockbuster Video. Don’t miss this great summer event for movie buffs of any age!

4TH ANNUAL SHOREWOOD CRITERIUM INTERNATIONAL CYCLING CLASSIC Spend a thrilling summer afternoon and evening in the Village of Shorewood as the Business Improvement District presents the Point Premium Root Beer Shorewood Criterium International Cycling Classic. This 4th annual event features top professional and elite amateur cyclists and teams from across the U.S. and more than 20 foreign countries - the men's and women's Pro/Am races will start at 4 p.m. The day's events will also feature a Junior Bike Roll for neighborhood children ages 2-7.

Race spectators will witness the fusion of the best athletes in the world and today's high-tech bicycles in an explosion of speed, power and excitement. The Shorewood Criterium is part of the International Cycling Classic - also known as "Superweek" - the longest-running, multi-day bicycle race in the U.S. It is a two-week stage race, run in 16 cities in Eastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. STUDENT ART AND MORE!

Saturday, April 7 - 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Spend an art-filled day in Shorewood on Saturday, April 7 during the 2nd annual ArtWalk sponsored by the Shorewood Business Improvement District. The business district will be alive with displays of student art, professional artist demonstrations, free art classes for kids, and much more. The ArtWalk will take place along north Oakland Avenue and East Capitol Drive from 10-5. Please join us!

  • 10th Annual Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the Shorewood Men's Club, at Hubbard Park at 9 a.m. Visit with the Easter Bunny!
  • Displays of student art from Shorewood school children at select businesses. Participating schools include Lake Bluff, Atwater, Shorewood Intermediate School, Shorewood High School and St. Robert.
  • Free art classes for kids, sponsored by Mike O'Brien-Edward Jones, Peter Gramoll Agency/American Family Insurance, and Village Manager Chris Swartz and the Shorewood Village Trustees. Classes presented by Artists Working in Education (AWE), from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Gilda's Club, 4050 N. Oakland Ave. AWE is a non-profit organization that provides free arts enrichment programs to Milwaukee-area school children.
  • Free art classes for kids at Culver's, 1325 E. Capitol Dr., from 2:15-3:345 p.m.
  • Free tours of the Gilda's Club clubhouse and artwork on display by its members. Meet Zink the Zebra who will be visiting Noogieland! Zink helps us understand and accept human differences and show respect and compassion toward others.
  • Performance art by Milwaukee artist Shelby Keefe at Gilda's Club at 2:30 p.m. Shelby is an award-winning contemporary painter and performance artist who will create an original painting to music for guests.
  • Artist demonstrations at select Shorewood businesses, including free caricature drawings by Paul Merklein of Great Big Faces from 12-3 p.m. at the Garden Room, 2107 E. Capitol Dr., and see ceramic artists Lionel Mindin and Jeff Shawhan demonstrate wheel throwing and slab building at the Shorewood Library, sponsored by the Friends of the Shorewood Library. Plus, watch a beautiful painting take shape by Becky Franklin at Lakeshore Gallery, 4401 N. Oakland Ave.
