Community Hour – Dairyland Mile Running Race sponsored by Andrew McCabe with Allstate

Back for it’s second year, we will be including a 1-mile running road race organized by Infinity Running called the Dairyland Mile Series and sponsored by Andrew McCabe from Allstate! This race is short and fast. And there is a party; What’s not to love? Come on out to Shorewood (and Downer Avenue) during the Tour Of Americas Dairyland. The streets will be closed, the party will be bumping and we’ll be throwing down for a fast mile! Due to the race happening during the bike races we will have to enforce a minimum time of 15min per mile. Check their website for more details on registration and staging locations!  Registration link below:

Race Route & Road Closures

Streets will begin closing at 8:00am and will remain closed until about 11:00pm for clean up.

We would like to remind residents both on and inside the course (see map) that they will need to park their cars outside the permit area if in/out access is needed.

There will no parking in the 1700 blocks of Marion, Lake Bluff and Kensington from Oakland Ave. westward to the commercial alley or end of commercial buildings, whether signs are posted or not.  The race route is bound by Oakland Ave, Marion St, Maryland Ave & Kensington Blvd with barricades on Glendale Ave., the north end of Oakland with the Kensington Street Block Party from 4500 to 4528 Oakland Ave.

For those located within the interior of the race route, you will have vehicle access at the intersection of Lake Bluff & Maryland Ave. in between races.  This will be the only point that Shorewood Police will allow vehicle traffic to cross the route during intervals in the race. There will be no parking allowed on the racecourse during the event.  Please be sure to obey temporary no parking signs to avoid tickets and towing.

Kensington Square Block Party hosted by Three Lions Pub

If the Bike Races weren’t enough, Three Lions Pub is organizing and hosting the Kensington Square Block Party!  The event will include live music from 5:00 – 8:00pm, outdoor dining & root beer floats!  Stop down during the bike race and grab a drink or swing by after the races end to hang out!

Volunteers

Please join us and volunteer to help with the race! Race marshals and corner guards are essential — they keep racers and their fans on their respective sides of the barricades so everyone has a safe and exciting race day. Plus they get a front row view of all the action!

Volunteers get a flag and a reflective vest to use, and an event t-shirt that will be yours to keep as our thanks for your time and service. Meet with us at the volunteer tent/BID tent (Blue top) next to the grandstand to collect your equipment and get your assignment (across from North Shore Boulangerie).

Shorewood High School students in the National Honor Society get NHS volunteer credits for volunteering at this event so NHS students please sign up to volunteer!

Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you! Please text Anjum Alden at 414-791-9783 or email at [email protected] with any questions.
