Who caught a glimpse of the Funkclub Wagon last Friday? The Shorewood Business Improvement District was looking for something fun to do amidst a pandemic and the subsequent restrictions on gatherings. The cancellation of the Tour of America’s Dairyland bike races, graduation ceremonies, and our Fourth of July celebrations had left us all in a “funk” so to speak. (Pun intended) Enter… the Funkclub Wagon!
Not only did the Wagon drive through several streets playing music for three hours, but they live-streamed the entire performance which was shared on several Facebook pages. Over 6.5 thousand people saw the live stream and hundreds of residents stepped out to dance and cheer when they were lucky enough to have the wagon drive by their own house.
We definitely want to do this again! Let Steph know if you have suggestions and/or know of any other bands that are willing to drive our streets so we don’t fall into another funk!

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) has opened up a second round of funding for the We’re All In Small Business Grants program which is designed to help small businesses get back on their feet while also encouraging adoption of best practices to keep employees, customers and communities safe.
The program is open to Wisconsin based businesses with few than 20 employees that have less than $1,000,000 in revenue. To find out more information on eligibility and the application process, click HERE. Also, email Steph Salvia if you need a letter of acknowledgment stating you were in business as of February 2020.
Applications are due Sunday, June 23rd at 11:59pm so don’t delay!

Last week Shorewood Businesses moved into Phase C of the North Shore Health Department’s reopening plan. While most of our businesses are now open, many have been required to operate at a lower capacity. Some owners are also still working on putting the proper safety measures into place. Ziolkowski Dental Weclomes Dr. Hannah Draver!
Dr. Hannah Draver grew up in Shorewood, WI, just blocks from Ziolkowski Dental. As a lifetime resident of Shorewood, she attended Atwater Elementary School, St. Robert’s School and Shorewood Intermediate School. She later graduated as Salutatorian from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School. After completing her bachelor’s degree at University of Louisville, she decided she couldn’t stay away from Milwaukee any longer and returned to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Marquette University School of Dentistry. Dr. Draver looks forward to developing relationships with patients for years to come. Read more HERE
