Shorewood Business District News – July 2020

Get Funky on the Fire Truck!

After the success of last month’s “Takeout for School’s out” event we figured why not do a round two in what has become our Mobile Music Series! On Friday, July 17th, Old Sam & the Teardrops, with John Sparrow of Violent Femmes and Shorewood’s very own Joe LeSage, will saddle up on a vintage Firetruck and roll through Shorewood from 6 pm til 9 pm. The first hour the truck will stick around the Business District and the final two hours it will be mostly in the surrounding neighborhood.
The idea is not only to hear some great live music safely but also to help out our local stores and restaurants. So dine at our amazing Shorewood outdoor cafes or grab your favorite takeout and head back home to wait for the truck to go by. Let
Steph know if you have requests to have it come down your street!
The event will also be live-streamed from the Shorewood BID Facebook Page

Special shout-out to the Shorewood Foundation for their partnership!

Last week the Village of Shorewood adopted a Mask Ordinance that went into effect on Friday, July 10th. This means that masks are required for everyone over 4 years of age inside all public buildings. We realize that not everyone is comfortable and/or able to wear a mask but please know that we have everyone’s safety top of mind! To read more about the ordinance and what it means for you and/or your business, please CLICK HERE

Speaking of masks, if you need one, Just Goods has you covered (literally.) Many masks, local and fair trade of all sizes, child and adult, with insert for filter. Each mask maker donates to various nonprofits and healthcare workers – Just $10 each with free local delivery. Pick one out from the sale rack outside on the patio or order online at www.justgoods.org  They are open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM outdoors.

This week they are even hosting Pete’s Pops outside the shop on Friday from 3:30 – 7:30pm during the mobile music event!

Please welcome two of our newer businesses, Skn Bar Rx and the Exercise Coach! It’s tough to open during a pandemic…

Skn Bar is located inside the newly restored Hayek Pharmacy building on the corner of Downer Avenue and Capitol Drive. Their emphasis is on skin care education and outstanding experiences. Check them out for a complete medispa experience. (Side note: have you seen the updated Hayek neon signage? Gorgeous!)

The Exercise Coach is located at 3565 N Oakland Avenue in the former Harley Menswear space. You can get into shape with two 20-minute private training workouts per week – I’m intrigued! Here’s a LINK to a recent Journal Sentinel article.

Thanks to everyone who has supported and continues to support our small businesses. It does not go unnoticed and we are so very grateful for the support!
