Shorewood Business District News – May 2020

Shorewood Is OPEN for Business!

As of today, Friday, May 22nd, Shorewood Businesses are now fully able to open if they so choose. Public health leaders from 18 suburban municipalities have carefully tracked key indicators to guide the safe reopening across the city, county and state. As such, they have outlined recommendations to guide future phases of reopening. As of today, we are beginning Phase B on the chart below. We realize that not everyone will be comfortable with returning to businesses that have reopened and we respect and understand that decision. We trust in our public health professionals who will continue to monitor and track the situation closely. Please continue to support our small businesses in whatever way makes you feel most comfortable while respecting each business owner’s carefully thought out decision.

Thanks to a partnership between the Business Improvement District (BID), the Village of Shorewood and the Community Development Authority (CDA,) $300,000 in emergency relief funds were distributed last week to just under 100 businesses in Shorewood! Business owners who held an occupancy permit and who were able to show a 50% reduction in sales due to the virus and its subsequent shutdown were able to apply. Shorewood Businesses who did not qualify for assistance are also able to apply for funds from a partnership between the BID and the Shorewood Foundation. These funds are for business owners that have not and/or will not be eligible for any other forms of funding.

Our Bars and Restaurants are all in various stages of reopening to make sure that they do so with everyone’s health and safety in mind. CLICK HERE for the most up to date listing. Please be patient as they work hard to provide you with brand new dining/drinking experiences.

Thanks to everyone who has supported and continues to support our small businesses. It does not go unnoticed and we are so very grateful for the support!
